A quick and nutritious breakfast recipe that transforms simple oats into a creamy, protein-packed meal perfect for busy school mornings. Made with vanilla protein powder, rolled oats, and milk, this recipe comes together in under 10 minutes and keeps kids full until lunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (90g) rolled oats
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk (whole, oat, or almond)
  • 1 scoop (30g) vanilla protein powder (recommended: Orgain or Ghost)
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) water
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • A pinch of salt
  • Optional toppings: fresh berries, sliced banana, chia seeds, nut butter, extra maple syrup

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup milk and 1/2 cup water. Place over medium heat and warm for about 2 minutes, without boiling.
  2. Remove from heat. Add 1 scoop vanilla protein powder and whisk vigorously until smooth and no lumps remain.
  3. Stir in 1 cup rolled oats, 1 tablespoon maple syrup, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Mix well.
  4. Return saucepan to medium heat. Cook for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until oats are tender and creamy. Add a splash more milk if too thick.
  5. Remove from heat and let rest for 1 minute to thicken further.
  6. Divide into bowls, add desired toppings, and serve warm.

Notes

For dairy-free, use oat milk and plant-based protein powder. For gluten-free, use certified gluten-free oats. To prevent clumps, whisk protein powder thoroughly into warm milk before adding oats. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat with a splash of milk. Freeze for up to 1 month.
