A spooky, dramatic Halloween punch with deep blackberry flavor and rolling dry ice fog. Quick to make with simple ingredients, this non-alcoholic crowd-pleaser is perfect for parties and guaranteed to impress guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup blackberry juice concentrate, thawed if frozen
  • 2 cups white grape juice
  • ¼ cup lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 4 cups ginger ale, chilled
  • ¼ cup simple syrup (optional)
  • Ice (enough to fill punch bowl halfway)
  • 1 to 2 pounds dry ice
  • Fresh blackberries for garnish (optional)
  • Lemon and lime slices for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Chill all liquid ingredients (blackberry juice concentrate, white grape juice, ginger ale, and simple syrup) in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  2. Set your punch bowl on a sturdy table in a well-ventilated area, away from flammable items.
  3. In the punch bowl, combine chilled blackberry juice concentrate, white grape juice, lemon juice, lime juice, and simple syrup (if using). Stir gently with a wooden spoon until well blended. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness as desired.
  4. Slowly pour in the chilled ginger ale and stir gently to combine, preserving carbonation.
  5. Add ice cubes or an ice ring to the punch bowl.
  6. Wearing gloves or using tongs, break dry ice into 1- to 2-inch pieces. Never handle dry ice with bare skin.
  7. Using tongs, gently drop dry ice pieces into the punch bowl. Thick white fog will begin to roll over the sides.
  8. Stir the punch very gently with a wooden spoon to distribute cold and encourage fog production.
  9. Float fresh blackberries and lemon or lime slices on top for garnish.
  10. Ladle punch into cups, avoiding scooping up dry ice pieces. Warn guests not to consume dry ice.
  11. Refresh dry ice as needed throughout the party to maintain the fog effect, adding more pieces with tongs when fog thins.

Notes

Temperature is critical: chill all ingredients thoroughly for best fog effect. Always handle dry ice with gloves or tongs—never bare skin. Do not store dry ice in an airtight container. Warn guests not to consume dry ice. For a boozy version, add 1-2 cups vodka or white rum before adding dry ice. The liquid mixture (without ginger ale and dry ice) can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
