Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (17.3 ounces) frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 8 ounces thinly sliced deli ham
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Optional: Everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until smooth.
  3. Lightly flour your work surface. Unfold one sheet of thawed puff pastry and gently roll it out to a 10×12 inch rectangle.
  4. Spread half of the cream cheese mixture evenly over the entire surface of the pastry sheet.
  5. Place half of the ham slices over the spread, overlapping slightly to cover the surface.
  6. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the ham. Press down gently.
  7. Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the pastry into a log. Seal the edge by pressing it gently into the log. Place seam-side down.
  8. Wrap the log tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  9. Unwrap the chilled log. Using a sharp knife, slice into 1/2-inch thick rounds. Place on prepared baking sheets, spacing about 1 inch apart.
  10. Repeat steps 3-9 with the second sheet of puff pastry.
  11. In a small bowl, whisk the egg with 1 tablespoon of water until frothy. Brush the top of each pinwheel with the egg wash.
  12. Sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds if desired.
  13. Bake for 15-18 minutes, until puffed and golden brown. Rotate pans halfway through.
  14. Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Serve warm.

Notes

For the freezer-friendly method: After slicing, freeze unbaked pinwheels on a baking sheet for 1 hour, then transfer to a freezer bag. Bake from frozen at 400°F for 18-22 minutes. Keep everything cold for flaky layers. Use a serrated knife for clean slices. Do not overfill.
