Best 30-Minute Friendsgiving Turkey Sliders Recipe

These Best Friendsgiving Turkey Sliders are my attempt to bottle that messy, happy, chaotic energy. They’re not fancy. They’re not fussy. But honest to goodness, they taste like the best part of any holiday meal—without the stress of roasting a whole bird.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12-count package of Hawaiian sweet rolls (like King’s Hawaiian)
  • 1 pound deli-sliced turkey breast (oven-roasted or honey-roasted, sliced about 1/4 inch thick)
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup whole berry cranberry sauce
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter, melted (for glaze)
  • 1/4 cup salted butter, melted (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon poppy seeds (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the entire slab of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping them connected. Place the bottom half in a 9×13 baking dish, cut side up.
  3. Spread the cranberry sauce over the bottom layer in a thin layer (about 1/4 cup).
  4. Layer the turkey slices evenly over the cranberry sauce, folding to fit and overlapping slightly.
  5. Place the Swiss cheese slices over the turkey, tearing to cover the surface without gaps.
  6. Add the remaining turkey slices on top of the cheese.
  7. Place the top half of the rolls over the filling, lining them up carefully. Gently press down.
  8. In a small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup melted butter, Dijon mustard, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, poppy seeds (if using), and a pinch of salt until smooth.
  9. Brush the glaze generously over the tops of the rolls. Let it soak in for a minute.
  10. Cover the dish with aluminum foil.
  11. Bake for 15 minutes covered.
  12. Remove the foil and bake for another 5-8 minutes, until tops are golden brown and glaze is caramelized.
  13. Let them rest for 5 minutes before slicing between the rolls. Serve warm.

Notes

Don’t over-saturate the rolls; brush glaze only on tops. Let rolls come to room temperature before slicing. Use a sharp serrated knife. For make ahead, assemble without glaze up to 24 hours in advance, add glaze before baking. If baking from cold, add 5-7 minutes to covered bake time. For gluten-free, use gluten-free sweet rolls and adjust bake time. For dairy-free, use dairy-free cheese and plant-based butter.
